Before and After.

I am knee deep in home improvements.  And Lordy I know I WANTED a house, and all that, but suck a butt y’all the projects are endless and money is not.

The husband and I have spent two and a half days painting trim and doors (Oh, how 1980s our house is…wooden trim, mirrored walls, wall to wall carpet, linoleum, ug), and not only is it not finished but its the first project of JUST SO MANY…

  • Finish trim.
  • Choose room colors and paint walls.
  • Remove poorly placed, non pre-pasted wallpaper off walls that weren’t pre painted. (this might result in a recurring nightmare)
  • Pull up carpet to have hardwoods installed.
  • Build and install built in shelves, chair rail, wainscoting, a pantry and other closet shelving. (sure much of this is aesthetic, but still).
  • Dig a drain ditch and clean out the gutters before winter really hits.
  • Decorate.
  • Oh and you know, MOVE IN!!!

And all of that is just the initial stuff that needs to get done in the next two weeks just so we can move in, the endless improvements are tattooed on my brain (oh woe to the hideous bathrooms, WOE!).  I know I know, complain, complain… I did ask for it.  (good news for you all?  Loads of before and after shots in the months to come.)

In Grad School we  used to have a saying when life began to unceremoniously and with out lube, ram one up the ol poop hole- “You do it to yourself”.
